If you are looking to file your own federal taxes, and file them on paper, there are many resources you can rely on to get all of the federal tax forms you need to file your taxes before the mid-April deadline. While the IRS announced in 2011 that, due to the high cost of printing and shipping forms, they will no longer mail tax forms, there are still ways to get all of the tax forms that you need. One of the easiest things to do is to consult the IRS to find the location of your local IRS office and get the forms there. Not only can you get the 1040s you need, you can also pick up any other forms and even instruction books. If there is not an IRS office close enough to you, try your local library or post office. Many of these establishments stock tax forms for their patrons. If neither of these options work, and you have access to a computer and printer, the IRS does offer printable federal tax forms.
